As I was on holiday I missed the Tudor Dance, Costume & makeup evening represented by the Grantham Danserye.. Our members enjoyed the demonstrations & costumes exhibited, quite a different evening so I hear.
We entered the Nottingham county show with Notts federation with an exhibition of "Thanks for the memories" . We had a recipe from a wartime cookery leaflet donated by Val Rhodes, a tea cosy knitted on an old knitting machine from the museum in Ruddington donated my Mary Ecclestone & a rag rug made from a midwives dress donated by 'Monica Smith. Our next project for our federation is to describe the lovely banner in the village hall & those who contributed to its construction.
Dorothy Chahal wrote a wonderful description of the National Federation Meeting in Liverpool's Echo Arena which ended in 5000 ladies dancing in their seats to a retro band. Not at all what people expect from the ladies of the WI. Ha!
Rosemary Adams a volunteer from Rainbows Children's Hospice came with photos of the wonderful facilities at this hospice. She also brought a selection of little gifts to buy in aid of this amazing charity. They have an open day on 16th September if anyone would like to attend please do go along.
We have a different afternoon tea planned in August instead of a meeting so we're off to The Nice Pie Company.
Our speaker in September is Jason King entitled Now What Is This? And October brings Rob Hill from Hambleton Bakery so I shall let you know about them in the next parish news. Or you could come along & see for yourselves ! Everyone is welcome
We have to bring ourselves into this modern technological age with emails & websites & archive our memories so a busy time to be had after the holidays
Any of you ladies who would like to see how we operate please come along to any of our meetings. We would welcome some fresh faces .
