Willoughby Wi ladies had afternoon tea at Scalford Hall near Melton Mowbray in August. A drizzly afternoon made it impossible to walk in the garden unfortunately. Good food but no waitress service & cold tea somewhat spoiled it for me but pleasant company in a lovely setting made a nice change.
Our September meeting was fraught with difficulties due to the work being done at Willoughby village hall but our wonderful secretary Pam Freestone managed to arrange it in Upper Broughton after a thwarted attempt at Wysall. Many thanks to the 15 ladies who made the effort to support us.
Our speaker Sylvia Hilton demonstrated cake decorating with paste icing, involving painting fondant icing onto a cake surface with a soft brush! Very Intricate & beautiful. She also made lovely roses as decoration & treated us to a gorgeous cake with our refreshments. Such a reward.
On Thursday this week we will be attending the Wolds group meeting at Hickling WI where are speaker will be Gerry Burrows, more later.
Our October meeting will be a very different one as our speaker is blind & will talk about his prowess at baking. Do come & join us, hopefully in the newly refurbished village hall.
The November meeting is a crafty one on Rag Rugging. So if you'd like to learn or just make a Christmas bauble do come along
